Tinkering with my Blog Theme–Again.

I love working on my Blog.  It’s fun, relatively easy (compared to climbing a huge mountain, or understanding Einstein’s Theory of Relativity, or even cutting an even edge with a power saw,) and endlessly rewarding in creating something unique to offer my deathless prose…well gosh, that’s my point…my words will be out there bouncing around in cyberspace forever.

Since my first WordPress theme, long ago…maybe three serious years ago, I have tried out countless themes for my blog.  Since March 2015 alone, Sometimes has undergone 25 different changes, more than half of those returns to my present theme–Bold Life.   Those are changes are just the ones that are listed on the revisions page, I forget all of the different themes I used prior to March.

Most of the changes to my theme were explorations into one basic feature, replacing the stark white background of the content page.  My eyes are sensitive to light, and I am constantly looking for a way to change my background to a soft color, other than white.  I should say here that I have for years and years tried to change my background color in various Windows and other writing platforms.   Since I have not had unlimited time to search, I just cut the brightness of the computer screen itself.

Yes, I do pay for the Premium features for Custom Design.  Some themes offer the color factors I want, but not other things like size of Heading images, and menus and various custom features available in specific themes.    It just takes some tinkering to find a theme that is really expressive of my goals for my blog…but herein lies one of the detracting factors of blogging, spending so much time on the mechanical aspects of the blog instead of writing substantive posts.

Choosing a theme from the hundreds available is part of the fun, though, and I will not commit to never looking at a new theme.

      1. wow thanks for the compliment! sounds like you have more time to tackle this stuff than I do and you can tell, it’s reflected in your work! keep bloggin’

  1. I have the penchant for tinkering with my blog theme/presentation more often than I probably should :p I find that every time I feel like I’m in a blogging funk, a change in the aesthetics of the blog help me get out out of that funk 🙂 I’m currently thinking of finally purchasing that domain name and having a more personal web address.. Let’s see :p

Very interesting, and something valuable to consider. Love your work-around idea, though.

  3. I love that you’ve written a blog about about not having time to write a blog… Reading your piece and the comments I’m scared to go there – sounds like
far too much fun and it would feed my penchant for procrastination!

  4. I hope I can be happy with the one I have chosen this time because it has been quite a bit of work moving everything around. This is how I get distracted from actually writing anything lol….

    1. same with me…I get side-tracked playing with themes and other features. Another thing that I love but that gobbles up a lot of my time is blog-hopping…I love to visit other bloggers, and sometimes I get so far off my path that there’s no time to write in my own blog.

  5. Dear friend,

I love the background color and theme. They are very easy on eyes. 🙂
I feel that it’s important to work on these to make things easier not just for ourselves but for our readers. I am joyed by seeing account of your hardwork on your blog. It’s going to be there in cyberspace for many generations to come, God willing.

I wish you a very good luck with 101, blogging and and life 🙂

    Anand 🙂

  6. I love the colors of your theme, it’s very soothing and easy on my eyes. I’ve played with themes quite a bit but haven’t yet found one I 100% love. The one I’m currently using is the closest I’ve come but I’m still not content with it. There are a few features I want and hopefully someday when I get my own domain and move off of wordpress.com I’ll find it. I really just want a few things though: Posts to use featured images, a wider “body” section so my writing and pictures don’t feel cramped, and a single column on either the left or right side.

The theme I have uses featured images and has a slideshow which displays posts that I “sticky” to draw people’s attention, but it has two sidebars and even if I remove all the widgets from one it has widgets it forces to be there if you don’t add your own, so I’m stuck with two whether I want them or not, and because of that my body section is very cramped. It’s the best I’ve come across so far though, so I’ll deal with it for now I guess! My apologies for the white background on my blog though, I know it can be hard on the eyes but I love how clean it makes my blog look 😛

    ❤ and harp strings,
    Kate

    1. I really like Bold Life, which I am using currently. I have a preium plan though because I like the flexibility. the background I am referring to is the color under the article itself.
